Summer 2017 Camp for Preschoolers

Wildwood Nature School is offering three exciting day camp

opportunities for children ages 3-5 entering preschool and kindergarten.

All camps are $180 for the week.

Splish, Splash Science

Week 1: July 10 – 14

9:00 – 1:00

Water, water everywhere! Water is an amazing substance with its own unique properties. During this hot July week, children will experiment with capillary action, sinking and floating, and change of state. We will also explore the many possibilities of watercolor paints, paint with ice and create a 3-dimensional (and ephemeral) ice sculpture.

Natural Arts

Week 2: July 24-28

9:00 – 1:00

We will celebrate nature’s beauty by using flowers, leaves, seeds, and other objects found at the school and on the trail to create original works of art. Children will explore color, pattern, and texture and a variety of art activities from weaving to sculpture to painting.

Bubble, Bubble

Week 3: August 7 – 11

9:00 am – 1:00 pm

Bubbles are deceptively simple.  They are beautiful, fun, and the gateway to some complicated science topics. Children will experience physics hands-on and close up as they play with bubbles. We will also make some unique “bubbly” artwork.

General Camp Information

All camps include:

  • Morning story time
  • A nutritious, vegetarian snack
  • Indoor and outdoor explorations
  • At least one hike on the trails abutting the school to observe the week’s topic in nature and collect items for further exploration
  • Free outside play time after lunch
  • A Friday open house celebration where parents are invited to view the children’s work in the “Gallery”

We will spend a good portion of the day outside unless it is dangerously hot.  Please make sure your child is prepared for the weather.  Dressing in layers is recommended, as is a hat and clothes that can get messy.  Please apply sunscreen to your child before dropping him or her off at camp.

All campers will need to bring their own nut-free lunch in a container clearly labeled with the child’s first and last names.  Unfortunately, we do not have refrigerator space for lunch boxes.  Please pack lunches that either do not need refrigeration or include cold packs.
